Personal Philosophy Paper

Timothy Taylor EDUC 630 Technology Practices for Instructional Improvement Dr. Veronika Hardmin May 15, 2024                                   The pace in which education has used and integrated technology into education has been extreme. Thiry years ago, making graphs by hands, computing problems, and finding derivates and integrals were all done painstakingly by hand. Within a few short years though, the graphing calculator was invented and it has revolutionized the field of mathematics. Now complex computations and graphing can be done instantly using a calculator. That is not all of the technological advancements being made in education. Technology such as: 3D printers, virtual reality, and online classes have taken how students learned by storm Serin (2023).             Technology at its best has revolutionized the way we live and learn. Curriculum and Technology Discussion

Being a resource teacher I have to develop my own curriculum for my school. I have found that it is better to rely on the experts of others and have implemented various curriculum from Teachers Pay Teachers to use in my classroom. I have had to do this while still teaching to state standards and make sure that my students were making adequate progress according to their IEPs and state standards. There is some relief though when it comes to teaching a rigorous curriculum that adheres to state standards. According to Rao et al (2016), “[state] standards are meant to be broad and provide guidelines for what students should master, the wording often leaves room for teachers to analyze and interpret the standard and design lessons accordingly. Teachers can “unwrap the standard” to clarify the specific knowledge and skills they will address as they design lessons.” Furthermore, teachers can use digital devices in centers or at small groups time for guided and specific instructio

About Me

My name is Timothy Taylor and I live in Palo Pinto County, Texas. One of the poorest counties in Texas. I am a special education teacher and I am using this degree to advance to other positions in the area such as ARD Coordinator and someday SPED Director.  Some of the technology that I have used in my classroom is Google Classroom. I am personally not a fan of this platform because of how limited it is. I have used Google Classroom for most of my career so I don’t really have knowledge of other platforms.  Another technology that I use in my classroom is YouTube kids. I am a big fan of some of the funny videos that are on there and the my students are a fan of Blippy and Ms. Rachel. I also like to play classical music as well.  Some fun facts about me, I have a four year old daughter, a two year old son, and one on the way! We like to keep them almost exactly two years apart because their birthdays are only separated by a week each. I recently bought a house and we are really excited
